An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Building Surveyor to work within Leisure Services which is responsible for 5 health and leisure centres and other public buildings.

As part of a friendly and professional team you will responsible for carrying out full contract administrative and building surveying duties on the Section’s planned and cyclical maintenance contracts as well as business development and refurbishment projects on the Council’s Leisure Centres.

As a Building Surveyor, you will need to prepare scheme designs using CAD (we use AutoCAD 2015) with costings and NBS based specifications, organise documents for tender and appoint Contactors in accordance with Council Procurement rules.

Your role will also entail undertaking the Contract Administrator role on allocated projects, administering all relevant payments under the JCT suite of contracts with external Contractors ensuring that projects are completed on budget and on time in a business income orientated environment.

In addition to the above, part of the delivery may entail the management of consultants engaged on some of the larger building schemes, and working closely with Centre based teams to minimize impact of works on staff and customers. .

Good communication, flexibility and strong interpersonal skills are important and the ability to develop productive working relationships. Candidates must demonstrate that they are experienced in setting performance and financial targets, operational programmes and key performance indicators to ensure that schemes are delivered on time and to a high standard.

The minimum requirement will be a BTEC HNC in a Building related subject and be working towards or preferably have achieved full membership of the CIOB or RICS with at least 5 year’s relevant experience. Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite (Word; Project; Excel) would be desirable.
