Senior Building surveyor
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Building Surveyor to lead the Surveying & Technical team within Leisure. The Service is responsible for 5 Health and Leisure Centres with pools, as well as some other public buildings.
As part of a friendly and professional team you will develop and manage a strategic approach for the delivery of planned and cyclical contracts, refurbishment projects, reactive repairs and statutory responsibilities
As the Senior Building Surveyor, you will also be responsible for the design element of refurbishment projects, and will need to prepare scheme designs using CAD (we use AutoCAD 2015) with costings and NBS based specifications, organize documents for tender and appoint Contactors in accordance with Council Procurement rules.
Your role will also entail undertaking the Contract Administrator role on allocated projects, administering all relevant payments under the JCT suite of contracts with external Contractors ensuring that projects are completed on budget and on time.
You will also coordinate the work of a small team of Surveyors and a maintenance Manager.
Applicants will be educated to degree level and hold full membership of the RICs or CIOB. Applicants must also be proficient in contract administration and have sound working knowledge of the construction, design and management regulations.
Good communication and strong interpersonal skills are essential and experience of leading a technical team is desirable. Candidates must demonstrate that they are experienced in setting performance and financial targets, operational programmes and key performance indicators to ensure that schemes are delivered on time and to a high standard.
