This is a new role within the Estate Office at Castle Ashby and involves dealing with the inspection, instruction and management of maintenance and other building work on over 300 traditional and historic properties belonging to Compton Estates and Castle Ashby Trust in both Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.

This role will deal with all aspects of compliance in respect of property maintenance and property management and ensure that repair and refurbishment issues raised by tenants are dealt with in a timely manner.

About you

Your knowledge and experience working as a Clerk of Works or Building Surveyor will be key to the success of this role. You will be educated to degree level, HND or with current experience in a relevant discipline.

You will appreciate that time management and attention to detail is extremely important. With a confident outlook and a diplomatic approach you will require good communication skills as you liaise with the Estate owners, other staff, contractors and tenants.

About the role

Liaising with our established contractors, you will carry out regular property inspections and oversee the annual checks on our properties that are required by law, ensuring that they are carried out in a timely manner.

You will take responsibility for overseeing the preparation of properties for letting including the pre-tenancy checks, refurbishments (where required) and making sure that Health & Safety, EPC legislation and CDM regulations are complied with at all times.

You will liaise with the Estate owners, contractors and tenants, other departments and external stake holders, ensuring relationships are well maintained.

You will be involved in the preparation of annual budgets and assist with the management of budgetary control for the ongoing maintenance works. You will be required to utilise your IT skills to update our software system to assist with forward planning and statutory compliance.

Dealing with the cyclical, reactive and planned property maintenance, you will monitor progress with site visits ensuring that all projects are delivered efficiently in terms of time, cost and quality.
