An opportunity has arisen to join the team delivering a high profile and exciting New Build Council Housing programme.

Bristol City Council’s Housing Delivery Team is currently working on an ambitious programme to build quality new council homes. The homes are often on difficult sites, including small back-land sites and are being built using many different forms of Construction, from Traditional build to timber frame.

Plans in the future may also involve alternative methods of construction such as ‘Passivhaus’ standards and modular, off site production.

The post holder will be a key part of these projects and the main duties of the post are to ensure that work is carried out to the client’s standards, specification and timescales, using the correct materials and workmanship, and delivering value for money.

You will be required to visit sites to inspect prior to work commencing, at key stages throughout construction or demolition and at practical completion – and report findings to the Employers Agent/Contract Manager and Client.

You will check that progress is maintained in accordance with the contract programmes and advise on any likely cause for delay, and well as advising on the quality of works.

You will ensure that all current Health and Safety Legislation, Environmental Legislation, Codes of Practice and Building Regulations are observed at all times by the contractor whilst on site, and in accordance with contracts, carry out inspections at the end of the defects liability period.

You may also be required to work on other Major Construction projects, for example low rise cladding projects, so will need to have knowledge of refurbishment schemes and similar works to existing projects
