From repairs and maintenance to major works and projects, the Trust’s Building Profession within our internal Consultancy is at the forefront of their care.

In this Assistant Building Surveyor role we are looking for you to provide support to colleagues in all aspects of building surveying. This role is a two year training and development role expected to lead to full professional recognition as a Building Surveyor with either RICS or CIOB.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll bring your commitment to developing theoretical knowledge and experience to the maintenance and repairs at our properties. Assisting in a consultancy service, you’ll respond to requests for information, advice and hands-on support to meet the needs and demands of your clients, including our tenants.

This will give you the opportunity to assist with all aspects of building surveying work including areas such as the coordination of building condition surveys, preparation of specifications and drawings.

You’ll develop knowledge of managing risk and compliance and from your passion for conservation and sustainability you’ll champion our work.

Who we’re looking for

We want to help you develop a career with us. You’ll be working towards a relevant professional qualification e.g. Chartered Surveyor MRICS, MCIOB. (For RICS full membership you’ll need an Accredited Degree in Building Construction/ Conservation or Surveying.) You’ll also need to have:

  • Accredited degree/ qualification in Building Surveying or Building Conservation/ Construction.
  • Theoretical knowledge of relevant legislative requirements relating to the role.
  • A clear client focus, with excellent listening, communication and presentation skills.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships across your region.
  • Desire to develop a knowledge of building conservation, maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to demonstrate expertise in data handling and the production of technical information.
  • A methodical approach to data collection, recording, retrieval and working accurately to deadlines.
